Born in S. California Paula immigrated as a child to Quesnel BC with her family in 1964. Her father drowned when she was 12 leaving her mother alone to raise four daughters in a strange new setting. From a child imagination kept Paula busy and amused. As an adult, marriage four children and religion consumed her and it wasn't until her late thirties that she began to explore art. Her father's repressive ancestral religion controlled her activities and prevented any attempt at self-expression. A taste of freedom and a visual feast opened her senses during a trip to Britain in 1994. She began watercolour painting and soon left the religion. Paula's paintings are mainly autobiographical; memories, feelings and muses of the world from her experience.
